Self driving is a distant dream and won't come in realisation in our livetimes. Assisted driving and automated driving to a large extent is what the innovators are targeting on.
Driving is also a particular behaviour of humans and like all behaviours, we can only train AI to a certain extent on this, can't really depend on it to replace the human part completely
